Public rules for what we publish. Owned by founding editor Mara Ellison; speech standards with June Park; body and tools standards with Rae Donovan.
Purpose
Adult editorial content on dating, relationships, intimacy, and sexual wellness. Practical clarity: answer the question, give a usable next step, avoid fluff and panic. Leave the reader upright.
Standards
- Lead with the answer, then add depth
- Prefer concrete help (scripts, timelines, body mechanics) over slogans
- Use plain anatomical language when the topic requires it
- Correct factual errors when we learn of them
- Keep commercial relationships disclosed and secondary to editorial judgment
- Instrument = the job of the headline — never shame → product
Masthead honesty
We use named editorial personas (Mara, June, Rae) so you know who is speaking. We do not invent medical degrees, sexology licenses, or a clinical board. See About.
Boundaries
- No instructions for non-consensual or illegal activity
- No pornographic depiction; intimacy is education and lived experience
- No content involving minors; site is 18+ only
- Trans identity is identity, never a fetish category
- Pain, unexpected bleeding, infection signs, and sudden change belong with a clinician — medical disclaimer
